I've been working full time on some new covers for our couch cushions the last few days. I thought it would be a fairly quick and easy job, but I

Very busy trying to get the house ready for the holidays. The biggest job right now is making new covers for the couch cushions. The living room will look a
lot better when that's done. It's a bigger job than I thought it would be, mostly because I'm using the old covers as patterns, and all of the
seam ripping and stuff is taking a lot of time. I think it'll be really nice when it's done, though, because right now, the couch cover is always

Are there certain steps I should follow or got any tips to make this process smoother?

I've got the heat on for the first time this fall. It's nice and cozy inside, which is nice. I need to start putting some plastic protective covers

The tomato plants are still producing a lot of tomatoes, but the bugs want to eat them. The plants all fell over while I was on the road this past summer, and

I got a new sewing machine a couple of weeks ago. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but it's a real workhorse. Most sewing machines are
flimsy and not very powerful. This one's like the Volvo of sewing machines. I was hemming some of Arch's pants yesterday and that machine just plowed
right through the rolled seams like they were hardly there. That's a great machine. I'm looking forward to hemming some blue jeans with that puppy.

We've been having a lot of rain the past few days, and the garden's loving it. I had a couple of soaker hoses in the garden earlier in the summer, and
they both developed holes in them that caused me to waste a lot of water before I found them (I was afraid the water bill might be a b*tch, but it wasn't
as bad as I feared). I stopped using them after that, but the garden didn't do anywhere near as well afterwards, so I've gotten some new soaker hoses
