Seems like a different world today than before Tuesday. For several reasons, from my perspective. No more canvassing or helping out at the campaign headquarters. I feel better about my country than I have in a long, long time (better than I ever have, really). The people I see in my daily life seem happier and much lighter in spirit. It felt like there was a very dark cloud hanging over this country and the world for the last eight years. It now feels like this cloud has begun to lift.
The green beans are just about finished for the season. I got a good crop from an area about four feet by five feet, though, especially considering how late in the season I planted them. I harvested my first lettuce a few days ago. That was very cool. I can see the little baby Brussels sprouts starting to form along the stems of the plants, and I think it's possible that they will be ready to harvest by Christmas, which would also be cool. The peppers are still bearing, and there's one tomato plant left. One of the two remaining ones was damaged by some heavy wind we had a couple of weeks ago, and it finally succumbed a few days ago. I don't think we'll be getting any more tomatoes this season. The carrots seem to be doing the best of all of the plants as far as foliage is concerned. Still too early to know how the carrot crop is going to turn out. The rest of the garden is plugging along.
Still working on the house. I have several rooms to paint and get sorted out before Arch's dad, stepmother, and uncle come to visit in the spring. And both porches need to be scraped, filled, and painted. And there's a ton of work to do in the garden.
