Good time to buy a large TV. |

Last week bought a used 36" TV and an oak cabinet for cheap. Lots of good deals on Craigs List.

Cool ! Enjoy your "new" 36 inch t.v. We bought a nice 35" from Walmart about 2 years ago. RCA at a nice price, but it stopped working 6 months
after we got it, so not so nice. IMO, on large t.v.'s it's wise to buy used unless you're planning on spending a lot of cash for a high dollar
model. The lower priced models are cheap for a reason and you get a better deal on a better model used. My .02.

Ours is an RCA. Was yours covered by warranty?

It was a while ago, so I don't remember all the details, but it worked up until a little while after the warranty period ended(I think 90 days warranty,
but as I said, not sure).I generally don't purchase extended warranties, but in this case it might've been a good idea. But "if" I ever buy
another large screen it'll be used.

That is unfortunate. I thought the standard warranty for such items was a year. I'll certainly check warranty the next time I shop at Wal-Mart.

As I said, I'm not certain of the time frame, but I do know that the t.v. died shortly after the warranty did, and to the best of my recollection, that was
well under a year. I went and bought a cheap Akai 19", and have had it ever since.

Arch Monkey wrote: I'd check them whereever I bought, but I doubt warranty on a certain model of a certain brand would be different at different stores. Warranties are issued by the manufacturer. If they're different, something would have to be different about the product. I have heard rumors from friends that Walmart-branded electronics were stripped down versions built especially to meet a certain price point, but I discounted them. IMO, it would be detrimental to the brand name reputation to do something like that. But what do I know?

Wal Mart makes it a policy to constantly pressure manufacturers to "roll back" their prices. I would not be surprised if warranty was a part of that.
