Still dealing with the same stuff. Some of these things just don't seem to want to get completed. Lots of blossoms on some of the tomato and pepper plants. Looking forward to the first tomatoes of the season. The lettuce has been very prolific. I've already pulled up a bunch of plants because they were getting too mature. Time to make another planting. Planted some more eggplants today. I still have a lot of planting left to do.

So this week, so far I've bought exercise equipment, dealt with family issues and avoided having my own mental breakdown, I'll explain all of this
later...... Got to go.

So I'll start with family issues. I may or may not have mentioned that my grandfather has lung cancer and so far has amazingly survived for a year and a
half with it. He's going downhill very quickly now though. He can barely chew his food and he can't walk anymore. They called in Hospice last week. We
have never gotten along with his new wife who he married about two years ago, because for one, all she wants is money and two, she doesn't understand the
concept of family and that as a family, we want to get together and actually see each other. So basically she doesn't want any of us around and throws a
fit, literally, every time some of our family comes to visit. My aunt is a hospice nurse in Michigan and she came down here to visit this week and she said
that there's no way he has more than a month or so before he goes.
I'm loving the exercise equipment though, we bought a elliptical. It's great. I'm enjoying it a lot.

We're harvesting radishes- planting the second crop. Tomatoes nearly double in size every day, squash, watermelon,corn,onions and beets are rolling along.
Even the herbs are off the hook. It's going to be a good year. Early warm spring was a big plus.

Good luck with all of that, Maggie. It sounds like a very difficult situation.
Welcome to the forum, Charles. That sounds like a great garden you've got. Ours isn't big enough yet for corn, but some day, I hope to be able to grow some, if I'm ever able to create the space for it.

What have you got planted besides magic beans, Shakey? P.S. The van is on its way to Atlanta to be sold, so that's one thing almost taken care of.

i have ginger ,hot peppers,bell peppers,sage,tarragon,basil and the beans.don't forget i live in center city philadelphia ,so my plot is only a little L
shape about four feet on each side.
i'm thinking of adding some tomatoes.i put a lot of tea bags and coffe grounds on the soil before rain.eggshells too. |

My wife and the three, still at home daughters, have deserted me for the Jersey shore. I had to stay home and take care of the six dogs and two cats. Having
grown up in New Jersey, I think I've spent enough time at the shore, so I really don't mind. It also means I can get some extra flyfishing in since I
don't have to taxi the girls around. ( I'm retired but my wife still works.)
