The Hidden Cove just called me and they want me to play on the 3rd. Thats considered a holiday day right? Should I be getting a bit more for that gig? I did say yes but we didnt discuss dough. When you play on a holiday dont you make a bit more green?

I have played many July 1 (our national holiday) for straight pay. The only time I get extra is on New Year's Eve or if the gig goes overtime. Sorry I can't help further.

i've never heard of musicians getting more pay on a holiday. Holiday where? If you are from England, do you expect to get more pay on July fourth? Musicians would fly all over just to gig on a holiday. Most of them are glad just to be pulling in some drug and booze money with maybe enough for some food.

Heh, What an interesting night. The time flew. I ended up blowing through 30 tunes in 90 min. That what happenes when you dont play leads. The Karaoke crowd crowd came in around 9:30 and I finished around 9:45. I got the hell outta dodge when this chick that sounded like a cat in heat gettin doinked in an alley started singing "My Bologna" Heh.

You should play for what you want, not what we think is standard or "fair." You want a $million/hour? Quote that. you want $75.00 per 45 minute set? You know what to do. They don't like it, they can kiss your proverbial. Ass, that is.
But no, no one gets overtime or holiday pay. By that logic, you should get more for coming in on a weekend. But you won't. You tell them what you charge, you don't ask. |
