Is this a big enough decision to need a vote, or should we just include it in the vote we already took on the structure and setup of the forums?
The other question is, if we decide to make a new forum for that purpose, what should we call it?

Looks like we might need a forum in the Guitar Workshops section where I can put threads discussing guitars and other gear after they fall off the main page in this section.

I don't have any problem with you just adding the forum,as it sounds like a good idea to have one. Hopefully others will opine. You might call it "Guitars and Gear".

Not sure. The TTT is guitar with a smirk.
Too many cubicals makes Jack a dull boy. Seems to be working as is. |

That's a good point, Virgel, but we already have forums where I can put threads discussing guitar playing, on-stage techniques, and recording techniques after they fall off this page. But I don't have anywhere to put threads that discuss gear so as to keep them from getting automatically deleted by the system when they get old. It seems to me that whatever good information gets posted to such threads ought to be preserved where others who might benefit from it can see it.

If the preserved threads are used, then sure.

It just seems more lively to have different topics to look and choose from without losing perspective of the whole. That's why I think cubby holes produce a sence of boredom. If one writes a song, why not post it up front, those that wish to respond will, and those that don't well..

I agree, Virgel. That's why I've been leaving these kinds of discussions here in this forum until they are no longer on the front page here. I only move them after people stop posting to them and they move to the second page, and even then I leave a link so they can get to the thread without leaving this part of the forum.

Since it looks like there isn't unanimous agreement with the idea, I think it would probably be better to vote on it.
I move that we add a forum to the Guitar Workshops section for threads discussing guitars and other gear. If someone seconds the motion, we will take a vote on it. |

I vote for it if we call it Geartar! Otherwise I have no opinion.

This one looks like a non-starter, so I guess I'll just let it slide quietly off into the sunset.
