Why are we not linking to the hole and to PK's forum?
Aside from the fak that there are some troublesome folk there, many others may enjoy the convenience. Can we make it happen? Please? |

We had some discussion about it a while ago. Some people liked the idea and some didn't.
Do you want to make a motion for having links to those sites, Lush? |

Ethel - I deal with motions all day. Why don't we just try it on a temporary basis. If there's a problem with it, then remove the link.
I'm just thinking (dangerous under any circumstances) that some folks will reconsider certain recent affliliations and choose to come back here where real, decent, honest, ethical people (who happen to make music) congregate. |

I think it would be nice if that happened, Lush.
Here's the thing with not putting it to the membership. When I was given the keys to this board, the membership who were posting here at that time asked me to be mindful of and to respect the fact that the board really consists of its members. I promised them I would do that. The board isn't 'me'. It's 'us'. Some decisions that are purely functional, and that are not emotionally loaded in their nature, I feel comfortable making by myself. But decisions about which people have strong feelings, like the one you are proposing, need to be made by the membership, not made unilaterally by me. Some people have very strong feelings about that question, and those people need to be involved in making that decision. I think it would be great if more of the people who moved over there and who might feel they could participate in good faith here would do so. Although I'm not sure how having a link to that forum would make them feel any more inclined to do it. If you want the membership to consider your idea, you need to make a motion and then the membership will decide. It's not my decision to make. |
